International design awards are recognitions to the quality, innovation, functionality, and competitiveness of a product. That is why brands struggle to get them working with determination in the pursuit of perfection of their concepts and materials. But beyond the prestige they confer, the interest of manufacturing companies is centered on the fact that many of these awards are for the end user, a guarantee that what they buy is a Top product in its category.

In this sense, the brands that integrate La Cuisine International are characterized by having more than one of these awards in most of its lines and products. Here is a review of them.

Acknowledgments to the “made in Italy”

Throughout its history Smeg has accumulated awards that not only give credit to its avant-garde designs, but even to its facilities (Domótica de Modena, 2007 and Dedalo and Minosse, 2008). This Italian brand, whose products are known to be a combination of innovation, functionality, and beauty; has been awarded the Good Design Award which rewards products that are able to enrich society and routine. Smeg has been awarded consecutively (from 2010 to 2016) for several products including the furnace and worktop designed by Marc Newson, the SMEG500 refrigerator, the kettle and the blender of the 50’s Style range, and the kitchen of the Portofino range, among others.

Smeg received the iF Design Award – one of the most coveted international labels -for the TSF01 toaster. While the BLF01 blender entered the list of Which? Best buy 2016 for design and performance. The Red Dot Design Awards – a prize that recognizes the quality and innovation of designers and manufacturers – was awarded to Smeg for the TSF01 roaster and the BLF01 blender of the 50’s Style line and for the TR4110P1 kitchen from the Victoria range.

Incentives to excellence

The performance of the Mythos induction plates, the capacity of the Mythos Plus extractor hood, and the innovation that the patented DCT technology means for its Touch FS 913 M and Touch FS 982 M multifunctional ovens have made Franke walk off with the 2016 iF Design Award.

But the awards collected by this Swiss brand do not end here. These sophisticated furnaces and the light panel for sinks that works as a scale or cutting board of the Frames by Franke product line have earned themselves awards such as the Golden Award and the 2016 KitchenInnovation of the Year®.

The Swiss brand Jura has achieved many awards for the design of its various automatic machines for coffee specialties; including the Plus X Award, the Red Dot Design Award, the iF Design Award, Coffee Innovations Award, ProtectStar Innovation Award, Good Design Award, among others.

While the German brand Bosch has won the iF Award for design for the Open Assist system of the fully integrated dishwasher, the BGL35Move vacuum cleaner, and their DWK09G620, and DWK09G660 decorative leaning wall bells. On the other hand, its water dispenser integrated in the KGD36VI30 refrigerator door has obtained both the Red Dot and the iF.

Buying a household appliance these days is an investment in technology, so when it comes to buying a new one, it is advisable to bet on those certificates of excellence for their design and high quality levels.
